AUTHOR'S NOTES: Fluff Warning. Just a short little thing that came to me when I was looking at some screen caps from Window of Opportunity. I saw a pic of Jack grinning at Sam stupidly and thought what a lovesick puppy dog he is. Did I mention how damn adorable Sam and Jack are in this episode. *Shippy Sigh* Also, think of this as my apology for my previous fic, Automatic Love, that irked a lot of people. Sorry guys, no more McKay fic, I promise. This is pure Sam and Jack so you don't have to worry.
DEDICATION: This is for Janet Stimpson. All round lovely person and friend.

The Briefing Room

"What are you smiling at?" Sam asked, giving O'Neill as quizzical look as they sat across from each other in the Briefing Room. He was resting his head in his palm as he leaned on the table, grinning at her ever so slightly. There was a distant, dreamy look in his eyes as he did nothing but stare across the table at her.

"Nothin'," he muttered out of the corner of his mouth, still smiling at her.

She gave him a bemused look. She'd never seen him behave in such a daydream manner before. Her musings were cut short by Daniel, as he started their briefing. She turned her attention to the archaeologist, still glancing occasionally out of the corner of her eye at her CO.

It seemed that grin was plastered to his face.

The Infirmary

They'd returned from their mission to P4X-639. The time loop had been broken and everything was apparently back to normal. Now here they were sitting in the Infirmary, waiting for their post mission physicals. Teal'c had been first up and now Janet was in with Daniel and would be done in a moment.

Sam was sitting on one of the beds, her eyes wandering around the room as she waited. O'Neill was sitting on the bed opposite to hers, his legs dangling over the side. As her eyes wandered they came to land on him.

He was smiling again.

Her brow furrowed and she looked at him. It was that same damn grin he'd been giving her when they had been in the Briefing Room earlier that day, and he had the goo-goo eyes to accompany it again. She blinked at him, wondering what on Earth was up with him. Why was he looking at her like that?

"What are you smiling at?" she asked again.

"Nothin'," he repeated, the statement a carbon copy of his comment that morning.

"Sam, you're up," Janet called from across the room. Sam gave him one last look and shook her head before getting up and following Janet.

The Commissary

Post mission physical and clean up complete, Sam settled herself down in the commissary with a piece of lemon cheesecake and a manilla folder of papers she was reviewing. The folder was open on the table in front of her and she was reading it as she enjoyed the creamy texture of her dessert.

Just as she reached a critical part of the report she was disturbed by her CO, who sat down opposite her at the table, his own plate of cheesecake in is hand as he set it down on the table.

"Colonel," she greeted him.

"Carter," he said, pulling his plate towards him and digging into it with a fork. Sam studied him for several moments before returning her attention back to the file she was reading. He seemed normal. Maybe that whole grinning thing had just been a side-effect from the insanity he and Teal'c must have experience during the time loop.

She continued reading through her papers when suddenly she felt something. It was a strange feeling, like she was being watched. She didn't raise her head, instead she moved her eyes up just enough to see her CO looking at her.

Looking at her again with that stupid grin.

She dropped her fork to her plate and sighed. She looked up at him with a stern look. He was sitting back in his chair, sucking the last pieces of cake off his fork and staring at her again with those eyes.

She closed her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose. Okay, this was starting to get weird. She looked back up at him.

"What are you smiling at?" she sighed.

He took the fork out of his mouth. "Nothin'," he said.

Sam rolled her eyes and packed up her papers, sliding them back into the manilla folder. She got up out of her chair and walked out of the commissary.

What was wrong with him today?

Sam's Lab

"Okay, now this is just getting annoying," Sam said closing the lid of her laptop. She was sitting in her lab working on a report when Colonel O'Neill had come in and sat down opposite her. He'd said nothing about why he was here or what he wanted. He'd just sat down and started staring at her.

Again.

Staring with that stupid grin.

"What are you smiling at?" she implored.

He said nothing for several moments, and then, in a whimsical voice he sighed. "I'm in love."

Sam cheeks blushed a light shade of red and her heart fluttered in her chest. She was speechless. Now there was something she hadn't expected. Then, out of the corners of her mouth, a smile of her own started to form.

Her eyes met his as the smile continued to spread across her lips. "What are *you* smiling at?" he asked her.

She bit her lip and giggled, "I'm in love."

The End.
